OATC is a methadone maintenance program providing treatment specifically for those individuals dependent on opiates (eg. heroin, methadone, Percocet, Oxycontin, opium, morphine, Dilaudid, codeine, Demerol, Fentanyl, etc). Methadone is a long-acting opioid medication (lasting 24-36 hours per dose) that represents an effective and legal substitute for opiates. This program is based on an Outpatient Harm Reduction Model and includes:
- An initial intake & Screening visit
- Signed treatment contract
- A focused medical examination
- Appropriate laboratory tests
- Initial and ongoing supervised urine screens for illicit drugs
- Weekly individual counselling/case management
- Regular medical supervision & follow up
- Treatment of addiction related illness/diseases (eg. Hepatitis C and HIV infection)
- Regular daily methadone dosing
- Continuing Care Program
Referral is not required, anyone with an addiction to opiates can start the program by contacting the Scarborough clinic directly.
